Mission Statement
It is the mission of Stella Maris Academy to teach and guide students from various cultures in their spiritual, moral, academic and social development and to make a significant contribution to the Church, to the community, and to the students and parents who value Catholic education. The aims of Stella Maris are four fold: to foster a respect for God and for creation in a love that manifests itself in truth, goodness, and beauty, to offer a challenging curriculum relevant to the needs and talents of the students, to build a sense of community among students, faculty, clergy and parents, and to develop a moral sensitivity toward the poor.
Statement of Philosphy
The parents, clergy, principal, faculty and staff of Stella Maris Academy believe:
- that the Triune God is the center of our lives and that each child is a member of the family of God, created in God’s image;
- that students develop a strong relationship with God through daily prayer, sacramental celebrations, a nurturing community life, and frequent spiritual experiences;
- that the Gospel of Jesus sends us out to proclaim the Good News, to create community,and to be of service to all of God’s people;
- that the parents are the primary educators of their children;
- that students will display self-confidence, positive self-esteem and an ability to care for self and others, and promote beauty through participation in the fine arts;
- that students will embrace and celebrate cultural diversity and grow in the rich tradition of the Catholic faith;
- that respect for others through behavior and service is evidenced on a daily basis;
- that our academic programs prepare students for higher education, responsible citizenship, and moral integrity in an ever-changing political, economic, technological and social world.
